Woman killed when high-speed chase ends in crash near Bush Airport

HOUSTON – A woman who was driving a stolen vehicle died Tuesday after a high-speed police chase ended in a crash near Bush Airport, according to Harris County Sheriff's deputies.

Deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop on the stolen car but woman refused to pull over. A male passenger was in the car.  The two led authorities on a chase for more than 25 minutes, with speeds reaching 85 mph.

The woman drove up and down U.S. 59 and at one point passed cars on the shoulder.

The chase came to an end when the woman ran a red light on J.F. K. Blvd., just north of Beltway 8, and slammed into a truck.  She and the passenger were taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where she died.

The passenger seriously injured, but expected to survive.

The driver of the truck was not badly injured, but was taken to the hospital to be checked out at a precaution.
