Woman faces prostitution charges in La Porte spa investigation

LA PORTE, Texas – A woman faces prostitution charges for her role in a massage parlor in La Porte, police said.

The La Porte Police Department says investigators with the street crimes unit and criminal investigative division started investigating the "spa" after receiving information about possible position at the business. Baytown police detectives and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents assisted with the investigation.

The spa on W. Fairmont Parkway is believed to be owned by Shang Jing, 41.

Jing was arrested on Thursday and taken to the La Porte Jail.

La Porte police say the Harris County District Attorney's office accepted charges of prostitution against Jing.

As part of their investigation, authorities are inspecting the business by verifying the status of the workers at the spa, as well as assessing other businesses in the area to check for licensing compliance.
