Winter storm causing flight cancellations, delays at Houston airports

HOUSTON – The winter storm across the area is causing flight delays and cancellations at Houston's two airports.

The Houston Airport System said more than 60 flights were canceled at Bush Intercontinental Airport through 10 a.m. That was about 50 percent of the flights.

United Airlines said their operations were up and running as of 10:45 a.m.

Ramps at Beltway 8 and JFK, and Beltway 8 and Hwy 59 have been closed because of the ice. The APM, above ground train has been shut down. We will use buses to move passengers from terminal to terminal. Roadway surfaces are wet and the HAS is constantly de-icing.

At Hobby Airport, there were more than 55 cancellations Friday morning, according to HAS. Departing flights resumed around 8:30 a.m., with inbound flights starting again around 10 a.m.

Passengers are urged to call their airlines to check on their flights.
