HOUSTON – A pet store in north Harris County hopes the public can help find the thieves who stole $25,000 worth of puppies.
It happened about 7 a.m. Saturday at the Pet City store in the 200 block of Bammel Westfield Road.
Shop owner Sheri Stack said surveillance video showed three men pull up to the store in a white pickup. Two of the men got out of the truck, pried open the store's door, run inside and ransacked the place.
“The people who steal from us all want the English bulldogs,” Stack said.
Stack said the real-life Cruella-de-Vils used a sledgehammer to smash some glass to get to the puppies and made off with four English bulldogs and two French bulldogs.
“They just want to sell the puppies and make some money,” Stack said.
Stack said the business has been open for more than 30 years and they’ve had similar theft cases in the past. This case is worrisome, Stack said, since the dogs require special care.
“The English bulldogs can’t go outside," Stack said. "The heat can kill them.”
Stack said the store is offering an $800 reward for each puppy that is safely returned.
