Three sisters nearly abducted while leaving school

HOUSTON – A southwest Houston mother is angry and worried about an incident she said happened last week involving her three children.

"They were this close to being abducted, all three of them," Toni McBride said.

McBride said three of her children, girls, ages 12, eight, and seven, were walking home from Foerester Elementary School when a stranger in a white car, perhaps a 1990s Oldsmobile, pulled over and invited the three children to get into his car.

"It was right there near West Airport and Sandpiper. He patted his seat and said, 'Get in the car,'" McBride said.

According to McBride she taught her daughter exactly what to do in such a situation and she followed it.

"She had one sister with one hand and one sister with this hand, and she put them behind her and she just said 'run,'" she said.

The oldest daughter called her during the emergency and McBride was relieved to find the three girls safe at home.

But that joy has turned to anger because six days after the incident, she believed the case still had not been investigated by the Houston Police Department, the agency she called immediately last Wednesday.

McBride told Local 2 an apartment complex security camera may have caught video of the incident.

"No one pulled the tape, no one called me, no talked to my kids, they didn't even contact their school," McBride said.

A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department told Local 2 the case will be pursued by the Major Offenders Unit, but a timeline for the follow-up investigation could not be provided, according to spokesperson Victor Senties.

"I am not going to sit here and wait for them to take my kid," McBride said.

McBride kept her kids out of school Monday.
