Three hit on Allen Parkway in two days

HOUSTON – Three times in just two days cars have hit people trying to cross Allen Parkway near downtown.

On Tuesday two children, ages eight and 10, were hit.

It doesn't take long before you'll see people crossing the busy stretch.

"Quite often, when I'm out here, I'll see them. They'll bolt across the street. Cars sometimes don't come across but you still have to be safe. Anything can happen," said runner, Quinton Adams.

There are options. The overpass near downtown links the north and south sides of the street. A man was hit Monday as he tried to cross Allen Parkway near Montrose. He was rushed to the hospital.

"There was one guy, ten years ago, that was seriously injured.  He worked for an oil company. You've gotta pay attention if you're coming across there," said runner, Tim Gehl.

There is a lot of traffic. Not only from downtown, but in the park as well. The skate park is nearby and improvements along the trails make it a popular spot for runner, walkers and joggers.

People who run and ride along Allen Parkway say this overpass is the safest way to get from one side to the other. And you don't have to worry about the traffic.

Houston police say an 8-year-old was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries while the 10-year-old'd injuries were not as serious.
