Woman attacked on walking trail

Police: woman grabbed on Greenbelt Trails in Kingwood

HOUSTON – A woman was attacked on her way home from work, and police said her quick action may have saved her life.

The secluded Greenbelt Trails in Kingwood is a place many go to exercise. On Tuesday, it was also a place where a man was waiting to attack, police said.

Police said a man grabbed 19-year-old woman who was walking on the trail in the 2900 block of Northpark Drive.

Officials said the man demanded she take her clothes off.

"I can't believe that. I usually run the trails. Actually, yesterday, we were running in the trails," runner Karla Ramos said.

Police said what the victim did next that may have saved  her life. The woman fought back and bit his hand, investigators said.

The woman got away and called police. She described her attacker as black, 25 to 35 years old, around 200 pounds and bald.

"I don't feel safe on the trails, and I haven't for quite a while," said Donna Heck.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
