Teen hit twice by hit-and-run drivers

Police search for white SUV

HOUSTON – A teenager was hit by two drivers in southwest Houston and left in the middle of an intersection, police say.

A 16-year-old named Gena was crossing Fondren Road at Bellaire Boulevard with her 14-year-old sister when police said Gena was hit by a white SUV shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The two were going to Walgreens to get water for their newborn sibling.

Police said the driver of the SUV took off and also hit a white van in the intersection. Investigators said Gena flew up into the air and landed on the hood of a dark-colored vehicle.

Police said neither driver stopped to help.

Gena was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Police said she suffered internal head injuries and broken bones in her lower extremities.

"Numerous people here at the intersection should have seen something. Or maybe even after the fact saw a white SUV, the striking vehicle, flee the scene.  Please come forward," said Houston Police Officer James Cortinas.

Houston Police hit and run investigators asked for help finding the driver of the white SUV. A witness said it had a Texas plate with a number that began with "D-W-1"
