Support rolls in for couple robbed before wedding

Couple attacked, robbed just days before wedding

HOUSTON – A couple attacked and robbed just days before their wedding are now overwhelmed with support.

Greg Gunnels and Marie Bratton thought their wedding day might not ever come. Everything the couple thought they needed to get a marriage license was inside the truck that was stolen. Everything except their school identifications.

One week after the disabled couple was robbed by two men at gunpoint, the bride is all smiles. That's because she recently got a call from Houston police telling her their stolen truck had been found. It was taken from them Friday as they were watching planes land and take off from the observation lot on Lee Road at Bush Airport.

"He said, 'Where's your money? Where's your money?' That's all he kept repeating," said Greg Gunnels.

The white Chevy truck was recovered the same day it was stolen, and was sitting at a storage lot. Missing from the truck was his wallet, her purse and the couple's wedding bands, police said.

The thieves left behind her wedding shoes, a gift from her soon to be mother-in-law.

A KPRC Local 2 viewer was so touched by their story that he started a website to raise money for the couple's wedding.

Meanwhile, the couple doubts they'll every see their stuff again. They said they just hope police catch the robbers.

The wedding is set for Saturday afternoon in Trinity.
