Police: Robbery apparent motive

"Patrol officers were dispatched to a home invasion that had just occurred," Sgt. Eli Cisneros said. "When the officers arrived, they discovered the homeowner had been shot multiple times."

According to HPD, the two masked gunmen went there to rob Franklin.

"The preliminary investigation at this point suggests robbery was the apparent motive," said Cisneros.

Franklin's brother, Michael Dale, got the call soon after police identified the body.

"It's just one of them things that you never expect, you know, to get a call saying that, 'Hey come by a house. One of your family members is dead,'" Dale said.

Franklin has a daughter in her 20's who doesn't live with him. Police said nobody else was injured.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
