Local 2 viewer buys soldier plane ticket after surprise proposal to girlfriend

CONROE, Texas – A Local 2 viewer saw our story about a local soldier traveling 22 hours on a bus to propose to his girlfriend, and bought him a plane ticket back to his base.

Rose Farias bought the soldier a plane ticket back to Atlanta.

For the last few months, Byron van Biljon has been planning a surprise proposal for his girlfriend, Stormy Perry. Because airline tickets are so expensive, he bought a bus ticket and traveled 22 hours from Camp Gordon, Georgia, back home to Conroe.

He arrived Friday morning and went to the Best Buy in Conroe where Stormy was shopping. During what she thought was a TV interview Stormy was surprised by Byron on camera.

Biljon will fly out Sunday morning at Hobby Airport. Viewer John Carter is paying for a cab to take Byron from the airport back to his base.

Biljon's mother said they are very grateful for the story.

Congratulations to Byron and Stormy!
