HPD officer hits pickup truck in SE Houston

Police: Truck's driver failed to yield right of way

HOUSTON – A man is in the hospital after crashing his pickup truck into the side of an HPD cruiser in southeast Houston, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, the officer was responding to a call with his lights and sirens on early Monday morning. The pickup driver failed to yield the right of way and the officer T-boned him on the South Loop feeder road at Crestmont.

First responders took the man to the hospital with minor injuries, while the officer was unharmed. The accident shut down the intersection for over three hours.

Police did not say whether the driver will face charges.
