HOUSTON – Investigators say a kitchen appliance was the cause of a northwest Houston apartment fire.
Firefighters arrived Thursday around 8:30 p.m. at Kingswood Apartments on Mangum Road and 34th Street.

They discovered flames coming from a downstairs unit.
Crews made a fast attack and were able to get the fire under control quickly.
The renter was not home at the time and no one was injured.
