Hobby Lobby, nearby stores lose power after fire

HOUSTON – Authorities are investigating what caused a fire at a southwest Houston Hobby Lobby.

It happened Wednesday afternoon at the store located at the West Loop south between Beechnut and Braeswood.

Officials said a dumpster fire in the back of the store spread to the loading dock area.

Employees told Local 2 they believe the fire was set in a pile of cardboard in the back of the store.

The store was evacuated.

The fire wiped out Hobby Lobby's electrical system and nearby stores are without power.

Arson investigators are expected to look into what caused the fire to start.
