South Houston Councilman Roberto Garcia arrested, accused of bribery

Sources say Garcia accused of bribing two City of South Houston officers

SOUTH HOUSTON, Texas – City of South Houston Councilman Roberto Garcia was arrested Thursday and is accused of bribery.

Sources confirm to Local 2 Garcia is accused of bribing two City of South Houston police officers.

Garcia did not come to the door of his home for comment Thursday night.

The city's website shows Garcia was elected to the city council in May 2005, had lived there since 1990 and worked at a local refinery.

Mayor Joe Soto wished Garcia and his family the best. The City of South Houston police chief would not comment on the case.
