Small Business Saturday takes center stage

HOUSTON – Larger chain stores cash in on Black Friday, but Saturday is all about giving small businesses the spotlight.

The annual Small Business Saturday showcases local businesses across the country.

Juanita Baker owns Roundtable Goods, a shop in The Heights on the eclectic 19th Street.

"We've been waiting for this day since we opened," said Baker.

Baker said everything inside her store is made by women living in Houston.

"You can buy your paper towels from the big stores. We want you to come here for a unique shopping experience," said Baker.

Small Business Saturday was started and promoted by American Express in 2010.
