Sketches released in kidnapping, sex assault

HOUSTON – Sketches were released Wednesday in a woman's kidnapping and sexual assault in southeast Houston.

Houston police said two armed men approached a 21-year-old woman in the parking lot of the Catalina Village Apartments, 3560 Dixie, about 12:50 a.m. on March 29.

"She saw somebody come out of a visitor spot. She ran back to her car so she wouldn't get her car towed," Officer Rhona Jones said. "I believe that suspect No. 1 may have been watching her movements."

The men forced the woman into her car and told her to drive to the 3600 block of Old Spanish Trail, where they made the woman withdraw money from two ATMs, detectives said.

Investigators said the men then forced the woman to drive to an isolated area on Paris Street near Cullen Boulevard, where they sexually assaulted her.

The men got away in the woman's maroon 2004 Toyota Corolla with Texas license plate No. BT1D421, police said. The men also stole the woman's cellphone and threw away the SIM card, detectives said.

"They knew what they were doing immediately ... not being able to trace the phone," Jones said.

The men were both described as black and in their early 20s. One is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 140 to 180 pounds with an average build. He was last seen wearing a red shirt. The other was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
