Ship Channel bridge repairs cause traffic woes

Officials: Completion expected by Tuesday afternoon

HOUSTON – Repairs to the Houston Ship Channel bridge caused some traffic woes Tuesday.

Two southbound lanes of the 610 East Loop over the Ship Channel bridge were shut down to allow crews to make the repairs to the bridge deck, officials said.

Originally, officials said the repairs were expected to be repaired by 5 a.m. Tuesday, but that estimate was later bumped up to sometime Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic in the area was slowed Tuesday morning because of the repairs. Drivers were encouraged to take a different route if possible.
