"Roger came to work out for us today, and we were very impressed," said Tal Smith, special advisor for the Sugar Land Skeeters. "He had great command of all his pitches and we couldn't be more excited about this signing."

Clemens is an 11-time All Star and a seven-time Cy Young Award winner. He turned 50 on Aug. 4.

"Any time you can add a player of Roger's caliber is extremely exciting," Skeeters President Matt O'Brien said.

He recently spent weeks on trial after being accused of lying to Congress. He was found not guilty.
