HOUSTON - Lockdowns at three Houston ISD schools were lifted as the search continues for suspects wanted in an aggravated robbery.
It all started around 10:30 a.m. when a resident told police that he was getting ready to take his wife to work when he was carjacked at gun point and the suspect got away.
Once police were called, they tracked the stolen vehicle and found it parked on Sonora Street near Lockwood.
Near the intersection of Lockwood and Arboretum, several police units had blocked off the street while they searched for at least one suspect.
"What we saw is cop cars all the way here. We wanted to leave but we couldn't because they had our driveway blocked," said Paskel Anderson, neighbor.
Investigators tried to make contact with the carjacker, who they thought was in the stolen car. The car was parked near Dolores Johnson's home. She heard police use a loud speaker to communicate with the suspect.
"They were asking whoever was in the car to come out to turn the music down and they had canines on the way and all that," said Johnson.
HPD SWAT officers were called to the scene to assist with the arrest, but because the windows were wet and foggy, police say they couldn't tell if the suspect was inside.
Police say they looked at surveillance video from a nearby business. It showed the suspect running from the car and jumping over Johnson's backyard fence as he made his get away.
"That's what the police officers tell us. Went through the back, jumped over the fence...what goes through your mind with that. It was scary. It was scary," Johnson said.
Police say they believe they will find the suspect. Once he's arrested, he will be charged with aggravated robbery.
The lockdowns at McReynolds Middle School, Henderson Elementary and Wheatley High School were lifted around noon.
