BAYTOWN – Baytown police are looking for the robber who climbed through a McDonald's drive-thru window and then pointed a shotgun at employees as he demanded money.
Newly-released surveillance video shows the man pointing a shotgun through the drive-thru window of a McDonald's on Alexander. He then climbs in and orders employees to the ground.
The man then pointed his gun at an assistant manager, demanding the employee to lead him to the money.
It all happened last Thursday just before midnight. The restaurant's front doors were already locked for the night.
"It seems on video he knew exactly where he was going. He knew the front door was closed already," said Det. Edgar Elizondo with the Baytown Police Department.
As the suspect approached the office, he pointed a gun at an employee who was leaving the freezer. The woman went back inside and the suspect went into the manager's office where the money was being counted.
After forcing the manager to fill his bag with the cash, the suspect took off running through a back door.
When police arrived, two employees were hiding in the freezer and another was hiding behind bread racks.
On Wednesday, the restaurant's owner, Matthew Kades, said employees did exactly as they were trained to do.
"Ironically enough because of robberies in the area and around the city, we had just talked about the policies at the last manager meeting with all of my managers," said Kades.
