HOUSTON – Robbery detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in catching a robber who has hit several cellphone stores in North Harris County.
The robber targeted the Cricket Wireless store at 3323 W. FM 1960 on Jan. 25. Surveillance video shows him walk into the store, briefly talk to the clerk and walk out a few seconds later.
The following day, the same man robbed the Boost Mobile store located at 12015 Perry Road. In that surveillance video, the robber walks around the store for a few minutes, appears to look at the cellphones before walking over to the clerk, demanding that she open the register and hand over all the cash.
In both of the robberies, the man was wearing a hoodie and told workers he had a gun in his pocket but never actually displayed a weapon.
“He was standing up here, and he had his hands in his pockets,” said one of the workers who was robbed. She asked not to be identified. “It was scary, because I’ve never experienced that.”
The robber is described as a white man in his mid-20s. He’s between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing “dirty clothes,” and investigators said all the witnesses described him as having a big nose.
Detectives say he has robbed several other stores, and they want to catch him before he strikes again and before someone gets hurt.
