Police search for 4 armed suspects in double carjacking

HOUSTON – Houston police are looking for four men, with guns, in connection with a carjacking where a woman was shot in the stomach.

Houston police say the problems started at the Waterfall Park Apartments as the men jumped a man as he parked his minivan in a parking lot off of Corporate Drive in southwest Houston.

Investigators say they beat him up Friday night, took his wallet, money and cell phone then took off in his car.

Some residents of the apartment complex are not surprised.

"My neighbors, they stole her car, from the car, the little things.  This car was scratched, keyed.  It's really bad around here," said resident Estrella Carrillo.

But police say the men did not know that the stolen van had a GPS tracking device with a kill switch. When he reported it stolen, the engine stopped at Wilcrest and Harwin. That's when the four men jumped out and ran off.

Investigators say the men then carjacked two women at the Alta Royal Oaks Apartments as they came home from the grocery store. The robbers shot one of the women in the abdomen, then stole her car. It was found not far away.

Houston police say the woman who was shot was rushed to the hospital but is expected to be OK.
