Police: Boy propositioned by stranger

HOUSTON – Houston police are searching for a man suspected of propositioning a 12-year-old boy near a northeast Houston park.

Police said the man approached the boy and his sisters as they were walking home from Tuffy Park on Russell near Crane.

"I think that's gross," said neighbor Eleanor Dixon. "It's horrible."

Investigators said the boy was walking with his 9- and 10-year-old sisters when he noticed a man following them down the street. Police said the man eventually approached the boy, asked for the time then offered him $200 in exchange for a "sex act."

Detectives said the boy and his sisters ran home to tell their mother. The man ran off and has not been seen in the neighborhood since the incident.

"I have three little girls, but that still hits home for me because they always want to go outside," said resident Ruthie Johnson. "Now I don't want them outside. Everybody needs to look out for this guy so he can get caught before somebody else hears about and he gets beat up."

"That means keep a close eye on everybody's kids and we're going to have to watch out for everybody's kids," said Dixon.

Police described the suspect as Hispanic, 17 to 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 and 170 pounds. Police said the man was last seen wearing blue jeans and a pullover type of jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
