PD: Delusional man opens fire in Walgreens in east Houston

HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after police say a delusional man walked into an east Houston Walgreens and opened fire.

Police say just before 1 p.m. Tuesday the man walked into the Walgreens at 500 Maxey Road near Woodforest, pointed his gun in the air and fired about six shots into the ceiling. He said nothing, never made any demands and never threatened anyone, according to police.

Investigators say based on what they saw on the surveillance video, it appeared the gunman was delusional and was acting as if someone had been after him.

We're told there were five customers and three employees in the store at the time. Local 2 spoke with two customers who say they ran for cover and hid in the back of the store until the coast was clear and the gunman was in custody.

No one was injured.

The man is being charged with felony possession of a firearm and discharging a weapon in a public place. He has not yet been identified.
