Parents agree to stop trying to make pregnant teen have abortion

HOUSTON – A new agreement allows a pregnant teenager whose parents want her to have an abortion to do what she wants with the child.

The 16-year-old girl at the center of the case is 10 weeks pregnant.

"Her parents were putting intense pressure on her before we got the restraining order, to get the abortion against her will," said one of the girl's attorneys.

On Monday, the girl's parents signed a court order that prevents them from physically or emotionally coercing her into having an abortion.

The unborn child's father said he wants the girl to move in with his family while they wait for the birth.  He said he wants to marry the girl and get away from the situation with her parents.

The girl nor her parents wanted to talk about the agreement after it was signed.

The girl's attorneys said she hopes she can reconcile with her parents.
