Oregon police arrest teen after Facebook post

HOUSTON – A Facebook post helped Oregon police arrest an 18-year-old accused of hitting two vehicles and fleeing the scene, KGW reported Friday.

Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Astoria police said they found two cars that had apparently been hit.

Later in the day, officers got Facebook messages from two people who said Jacob Cox-Brown had posted, "Drivin drunk... classsic ;) but to whoever's vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P."

Cox-Brown was arrested at his home and officers found a car with damage matching the two vehicles that were hit, the station reported.

Cox-Brown was charged with two counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver.

Deputy Chief Brad Johnston told KGW that the teen was not charged with drunken driving because the Facebook post was not sufficient evidence that he was intoxicated.
