Officials: Woman carjacked at stoplight

Deputies arrest four suspects

HOUSTON – Four men were arrested Monday afternoon after Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables caught them driving them around in a stolen car.

Investigators said at least one of the men carjacked a woman who was sitting at a stoplight at the intersection of FM 1960 and Kuykendahl.

"He opened the door and got in," said Assistant Chief Mark Hermann with the Precinct 4 Constables Office. "Once he got in the vehicle with her, he ordered her to drive towards an abandoned restaurant."

Hermann said the man was armed and forced his way into the car. Once they were behind the restaurant, he told her to get out, and then drove away in her vehicle.

"We determined there was a GPS on the vehicle that On-Star was able to pick up on," said Hermann.

Deputies located the car only a few miles away and found the suspect with three other men. They were all taken into custody.

The carjacking suspect has been identified as Andrew Escobar. He's been charged with aggravated robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

One other suspect has been charged with criminal evading, and two others have been charged with criminal trespass with a motor vehicle.

Investigators said the 22-year-old victim wasn't physically harmed during the carjacking, but was shaken up.

According to investigators she was able to identify the suspected carjacker from a photo lineup.
