HOUSTON – The first day of the year meant it was time for about a dozen elected officials to take the oath of office at the Harris County Swearing-In Ceremony on Thursday.

The event was at noon Thursday at the 1910 Courthouse on 301 Fannin Street.

"Every Elected Official, at the beginning of their term of office, is required by law to take the official Oath of Office before executing their official duties," said Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart. "This ceremony also declares the commitment of the Elected Official to serve the citizens of Harris County."
