METRO cop accused in hit-and-run crash

HPD is leading investigation

HOUSTON – A METRO police officer is accused of being involved in a hit-and-run crash.

Houston police are investigating whether the METRO cop car hit a woman's car while responding to a call.

Investigators said the woman was driving north on Chimney Rock, approaching Westheimer when she saw a METRO cop car with its lights and sirens on behind her.

Houston police said the woman pulled over to the right, but then felt a bump as the patrol car passed her.

METRO confirmed to Local 2 that the officer in that car was responding to a call. While they would not say specifically what the call was, they did say it was a "priority" that the officer got to the scene.

HPD said the damage done to the victim's car was minor. There was a scratch and some blue paint on her left, front fender.

The woman was not hurt.

One of the possibilities Houston police are looking into is that the METRO cop did not even realize that he hit someone.
