HOUSTON – A man was found in a ditch near the Gulf Freeway near Canniff at 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Houston Police Department responded to the scene and discovered the victim had been shot in the abdomen.

He was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition and is expected to survive.
Witnesses at the scene told police the victim and another man were walking on the sidewalk when another approached them and robbed them.
Some sort of struggle happened and then the victim was shot.
Police said the gunman was able to get away.
