Driver crashes into side of home in Friendswood

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas – A car slammed into a family's home while several people were inside Monday.

It happened at a home in the 800 block of Buckingham Drive near Kent Way.

Paul Bernardo and his wife were home when they said someone drove into the side of their house.

"I'm in the house and my wife is cooking and she heard a loud thud," Bernardo said. "Not what we expected. After she saw the car, she yelled. She called me and said 'Call 911!'"

He said a woman driving a dark blue Honda Accord drove through the side of their garage, breaking through the brick wall and hitting one of their cars parked inside.

"My garage has to be fixed, my car has to be fixed and you know, it's a big mess," Bernardo said.

Nobody was hurt. Friendswood police said the elderly woman driving the car only suffered minor injuries.

"She can talk but she was just dizzy," Bernardo said. "I'm glad nobody got hurt. I'm glad my wife didn't get hurt."

Bernardo told KPRC 2 he is hoping he can get the hole fixed soon.

"The weather is getting cold so this needs to be fixed quick and I hope it doesn't rain," he said.

Friendswood police have not said what caused the woman to crash.
