Man escapes after kidnapped from gas station

HOUSTON – A man fought back when he was kidnapped from a southwest Harris County gas station and forced to drive a gunman in his car.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the man was putting air in his tires at a Gulf gas station at the corner of Eldridge Parkway and Bellaire Boulevard at 1 a.m. Tuesday when a gunman approached and ordered him inside his vehicle.

The victim said the gunman told him to drive on Eldridge Parkway until they reached a secluded and poorly-lit spot, where the suspect ordered the man to stop.

Investigators said the victim then accelerated his vehicle and struggled with the suspect, who fired his weapon.

Kidnapped from gas station

The car veered off the road and hit a large dirt pile near a construction site near Belknap and Old Richmond, officials said. Both the victim and the suspect got out of the car and ran.

The victim was able to escape and was not injured.

The robber was described as black, 30 to 40 years old with facial hair and a fade haircut. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
