MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A ninth and 10th case of West Nile virus has been confirmed in Montgomery County.
According to health officials, the ninth case is a man in his 20s who lives in north Montgomery County. The 10th case is a man in his 30s who lives in south Montgomery County. Both patients are in stable condition.
Montgomery County plans on starting an aerial assault of mosquitoes. The spraying will target the southern part of the county which is where the virus has been most prevalent. The spraying is expected to cost about $1 million.

"Prevention is a key component," said, Dr. Syed Ibrahim, chief epidemiologist at the Montgomery County Public Health District. "Residents need to wear protective clothing when outdoors, and make their home unattractive to mosquitoes by emptying containers that may collect rainwater and sprinkler water."
One person in Montgomery County has died from the West Nile virus.
