Severe weather, widespread flooding across Houston

NWS says large hail, wind gusts up to 70 mph, tornadoes were possible

HOUSTON – Severe weather throughout Harris County brought hazardous conditions Saturday, including thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail, and flooding.

The National Weather Service issued a severe weather alert Saturday afternoon, and extended a severe thunderstorm warning for the Houston area to 1 a.m. Sunday. 

The NWS also said that large hail, damaging wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour, and tornadoes were all possible with any storms that developed from south-central Texas to the Tennessee Valley.

Local 2 viewers reported hailstorms in Pasadena and flooding in southwest Houston.

And Houston METRO said many buses and the train were out of service due to the weather and encouraged people not to travel unless it was absolutely necessary.
