Highway 290 west reopens between Hollister, Gessner after wreck

HOUSTON – All outbound lanes of Highway 290 between Hollister and Gessner have re-opened after a truck crashed there earlier.

Since 9:30am Thursday, the overturned heavy truck had blocked the three left outbound lanes of Highway 290 between Hollister and Gessner. The truck also hit the center wall, so the HOV lanes were closed.

We're told a vehicle broke down and another vehicle pulled over to assist and parked in a moving lane of traffic.

The dump truck tried to avoid the vehicles and turned into the center barrier and rolled the truck.

The truck driver was said to be OK.

One person was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Environmental crews cleaned up the fluids that spilled, and workers turned the truck back upright, moved it and re-opened the road shortly after noon.
