FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas - High winds made it tough for firefighters to battle a mulch fire in Fort Bend County.

The Richmond Fire Department was called out to the scene on Highway 90 and Pitts Road around 6 p.m. Monday.  Firefighters found a large mound of mulch that appeared to have self-combusted from the inside.

The strong winds carried embers to other nearby mounds.  The winds in the area have since subsided.

As of noon, Tuesday, the fire was still burning.  Firefighters believe the fire will be out by the evening.
