Matthew Bryan Henderson, 30, was last seen Tuesday evening at his group home on the 7300 block of Addicks Clodine Road, in the Mission Bend subdivision.
The home is located north of Bissonnet Street, south of Bellaire Boulevard and west of highway 6.
Group home staff contacted the sheriff's office on Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies searched the immediate neighborhood and local parks, but did not find him.
Investigators have also contacted area medical facilities and law enforcement agencies.
Henderson is described as a white male, 5 feet, 7 inches, weighing about 170 pounds.
Henderson has blonde hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, tan pants, red shoes and he was also carrying a red backpack.
He has also been diagnosed with mental health issues.
