HOUSTON – Wedding day snapshots taken by family and friends are all Melanie Brinkley has to relive one of the happiest days of her life, even though Brinkley said she paid a friend, John Kincaid of JK Photography, $1,500 to capture every special moment.
"Those are memories we really wanted to treasure and have. I paid him cash. I wanted to show good faith," Brinkley said.
Brinkley says she was supposed to get a bridal shoot, engagement photos and wedding day pictures.
Six months later she says she still has nothing.
"I've offered him more money. I just want my pictures," Brinkley said.
Brinkley has since filed a complaint with the Houston Better Business Bureau. We checked the Texas Secretary of State's website and couldn't find any record of JK Photography.
"This was done between private parties. JK Photography is not an established business. There is no contract. This was between former friends," Kincaid told Local 2 over the phone.
"Since then, I've gotten an email from him saying that he promises to send the DVD to me express mail and that was Feb. 18," Brinkley said.
The Houston Better Business Bureau urges consumers to always get their questions answered before they sign a contract, to check with the BBB to see if the company has a good record of resolving complaints and to always ask for references.
A spokesperson with the Houston Better Business Bureau said it gave JK Photography an F rating for failing to respond to this one and only complaint.
"I'm prepared to go to court. I'm very passionate about this," Brinkley said.
