Life-size Sheriff Nehls anti-speeding cutouts 'quite popular and effective,' Nehls says

HOUSTON – Sheriff Troy Nehls may seem like he’s everywhere in Fort Bend County, but it could just be his signs – and not the real McCoy.

Nehls cutout signs show him posing with a young boy holding a puppy and a sign that reads, “SLOW DOWN CHILDREN & PETS AT PLAY.”

Whether residents see law enforcement in the flesh or a cardboard sign – they both apparently make people slow down.

“We receive non-stop complaints regarding speeding in neighborhoods. Deputies can’t be everywhere, but my signs can be! They’ve proven to be quite popular and effective,” Nehls posted about the effort on Twitter.

The child on the poster has not been identified.
