HPD: Woman shot at bus stop after refusing to get into stranger's car

HOUSTON – A woman was shot by a stranger early Wednesday while waiting at a bus stop in southeast Houston.

According to Houston police, the 53-year-old woman was on her way to work at Burger King and was waiting at a bus stop on Southmore at Grantwood around 5:15 a.m.

A man in a car pulled up beside her, said "Hey baby, come here," and ordered her to get into his car. When she refused, he pulled out a gun and shot her in the arm, police said.

The woman managed to run to a friend's home for help.

She was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.

The shooter remains on the loose.
