HPD: Someone fires shots at 5 businesses on Westheimer

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department confirms it is investigating five random shootings at business in southwest Houston.

Between 4:40 and 5:40 a.m. Monday, several windows were shot out. The targets were from gas stations to swanky furniture store Cantoni, officials said.

A clerk at the Chevron station at 11302 Westheimer narrowly missed getting hit.

"I'm thankful to God. I think my mom must had been praying. That is why I'm still here," said the clerk.

The clerk said he moved away from the cash register to count a delivery, then the glass shattered.

"I suddenly ducked to count some things. Otherwise, I would have been hit," said the clerk.

A man who was simply getting gas at a Valero station at 11730 Westheimer had his own close call. The rear window of his pickup truck was shattered by a single bullet.

"Oh Lord, what a day. What a day. I had no idea this was going to happen," said A.B. King.

The brand new Apple store at 4012 Westhiemer was also hit.

No one was hurt in these instances, but HPD officers said the five crimes within an hour are serious. Someone could face felony criminal mischief charges.
