HOUSTON – A police officer was involved in an accident Monday morning in southeast Houston.
According to reports, an officer with the Houston Police Department was driving east on the South Loop feeder road when a pedestrian stepped into the road.

The officer swerved to avoid the pedestrian, police said, and slammed into a power pole, splitting it in half.
The officer was transported to the hospital to be checked out.
The pedestrian was not injured.
