City providing Christmas tree recycling locations

HOUSTON – With the Christmas season coming to a close, many are taking down their holiday decorations. That includes City Hall where workers took down the city's Christmas tree Tuesday.

The tree was then turned into mulch at the city reflection pool downtown.

The city is encouraging everyone to recycle their Christmas trees, offering 17 dropoff sites where you can leave them.

Officials with the solid waste management department asked that you remove any lights, ornaments, tinsels, tree stands and water bowls. Trees that have artificial snow are not eligible to be recycled and should be picked up on heavy trash day in February.
