HOUSTON – The pictures of her hometown after the deadly fertilizer plant explosion in the city of west are heartbreaking for Cathy Ewing to watch.
"It hurts. It's like watching it happen to your own family," said Ewing. "The places that you grew up. The places that you played. The places that you remember for good and for bad reasons that it's been annihilated."

Her parents are one of the many impacted by the explosion.
"My parents' home very much has been demolished," said Ewing. Fortunately, they weren't inside at the time.
Ewing showed Local 2's Camille Williams her yearbook that shows the fertilizer plant on it. She said it was a landmark in the city of West.
"That's what I think about is my friends. I don't even know if some of my friends or people I've grown up with are okay," said Ewing.
Although she lives in Houston, Ewing said her heart is with the community who she calls her family.
"It's just mind boggling that this happened in such a sweet town," said Ewing. "The people there have such good hearts and they are so giving to each other."
