More charges filed against man accused of driving with pregnant ex on hood

HOUSTON – New charges have been filed for the man accused of trying to drive away with his pregnant ex-girlfriend clinging to the hood of his car.

Anthony Escobedo, 33,  was in court Wednesday morning on robbery charges.

He's now accused of taking $200 from his ex during a fight outside an apartment.

Escobedo is also charged with violating a protective order and for assaulting a family member.

KPRC 2 viewers captured last month's incident on cellphone video on I-45 near Broadway. The video showed a woman, Jessica Alvarado, clinging to the hood of a moving SUV on the frontage road.

According to Houston police, Escobedo, 31, stole a car Alvarado borrowed, and she found him in it a short time later at a Shell gas station. Police said Alvarado yelled at Escobedo to get out of the vehicle. When he refused, police said she jumped onto the hood to prevent him from leaving.
In the video, Escobedo continued driving as Alvarado clung to the hood.

Police found Escobedo and the stolen vehicle a short time later at the Amber Creek Apartments in the 6500 block of Mira Glen.

Alvarado was 32 weeks pregnant at the time with Escobedo's child. The baby was unharmed.
