Homemade explosives found during child porn investigation

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two suspects were arrested Wednesday after deputies found multiple homemade explosive devices while searching a home as part of a child pornography investigation, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The HCSO High Tech Crimes Unit and High Risk Operations Unit were acting on a search warrant at a home in the 17000 block of Haywood Oaks Drive when deputies discovered homemade explosive devices, officials said.

According to investigators, one of the suspects started shooting at deputies once officers in the unit entered the house. The unit did not fire back.

Joshua Bishnow, 25, and another person were taken into custody, deputies said.

After the devices were discovered, the HCSO Bomb Squad secured the scene and removed all devices without incident.

The child pornography investigation began June 15 after court documents say Bishnow dropped off his iPhone at an Office Depot store on the Northwest Freeway to have a cracked screen repaired. Store employees said they found images of child porn on the phone.

Investigators said they flagged 867 images on Bishnow's phone, including at least three graphic photos of child pornography.

Bishnow is charged with three counts of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. His total bond was set at $65,000.
