Moistened tea bags can take the sting out of a burn

Houston – Despite the warnings against getting too much sun, about half of Americans over the age of 30 have had a sunburn at least once in the past year.

There are some easy ways to relieve the sting of a serious sunburn. For instance, to take the edge off, try a washcloth soaked in milk.

Milk has anti-inflammatory properties, so it can help soothe irritated skin, just make sure it's cow's milk.

Moistened tea bags can also take the sting out of a burn. Tea contains tannic acid, a substance used in World War I to treat burns.

Drinking two cups of tea a day may also prevent a sunburn in the first place.

Finally, Cucumbers! Cucumbers contain vitamins, so running a piece of cucumber over a burn can decrease the inflammation damage in the skin.

Of course, the the best way to avoid sunburn, is to stay out of the sun, especially in the middle of the day, and always wear sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher.
