Hit-and-run driver sought by police

Reward up to $5,000 offered

HOUSTON – Investigators are asking the public’s help in identifying a man involved in a hit-and-run in the 5100 block of Dowling Street on Aug. 6.

A man was riding his bike around 12:50 a.m. northbound on Dowling Street when a car traveling southbound hit him, police said.

The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid to the victim. He made a right turn onto Southmore, investigators said.

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for a fractured skull and clavicle, along with other injuries.

The unidentified driver is described as a black man in his mid 50s with glasses.

He was driving a dark green 1995-99 four-door Ford Escort with front-end damage and a missing right front hubcap, police said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging or arrest of the driver.
