Highway 288 reopens after big rig fire

HOUSTON – A big rig fire shut down all the main lanes of Highway 288 for hours Friday morning.

Officials said the southbound lanes of Highway 288 were closed at Orem because of the fire at 9 a.m.

Traffic was only allowed on one shoulder lane and was backed up for miles.

The lanes were cleared and reopened shortly after 11 a.m.

The crash is under investigation.
